The Gold SEIKO World Time from 1972

In 1972 SIEKO produced another special edition World Time in Gold.
In 1972 SEIKO produced a special edition of the 6117-6409 in yellow base metal with gilt (gold plated) hands and indices on the dial. This watch received the full gold-color treatment, including a new golden colored version of the case, the railroad bracelet/clasp, the dial and the bezel.
The underside of the bracelet as well as the case back remained in standard (non-yellow) stainless steel finish. The wording and layout on the caseback were updated. BASE METAL TOP STAINLESS STEEL BACK was printed in the horseshoe - with the model number moved into the center, under the SEIKO logo.
Estimated Production and Original Pricing
Examples have been cataloged from February, June and August 1972.
February examples are the most common.
Production appears to be limited to as few as 3,916 total watches.
This special edition carried an MSRP of $95 USD vs the standard versions that were listed at $70 USD.
That is a 35% premium.
As this watch was only produced under the 6409 model number, it appears that it was intended for the international markets, likely North America and Europe.
